The Balham Partnership Board
The Balham Partnership Board plays a crucial role in ensuring the viability
of Balham Town Centre for those who live, work, shop, and relax in Balham.
The Partnership co-ordinates the interests of all parties and has representatives
from local businesses, resident associations, community, faith groups,
Balham society, local Police and local schools. They work together to
'Build a Better Balham.'
The Partnership has identified five priorities in its four-year business
plan;
- Supporting business development
- Working towards a clean and safe environment
- Environmental improvements within Balham
- Marketing and promoting the town centre
- Developing and strengthening the Partnership.
The Board
meets in January, March, May, July, September and November on the third Monday evening of the month.
Recent successes for 2006 are the Visual Merchandise project in Hildreth Street,
co-ordination of the Farmers market, the Big Dance break dancers in the Jackdaw and Rook pub, the Easter Egg Hunt and Circus workshop, and the newly installed gate on Balham High Road. The Partnership has also recently put in footfall counters in two locations in Balham to analyse the footfall patterns.
In 2005 the Partnership successfully campaigned for the improvements on Bedford Hill tunnel, and the regeneration improvements of Hildreth Street, the ice-rink and the Entertainment and shopping guide to boost trade in December. Balham.com was also improved.
The Partnership will continue to co-ordinate festive lights and hanging baskets and campaign for environmental improvements around the town centre. The Partnership works closely with the Police, and with Wandsworth Council officers in planning, highways and parking.
Balham Partnership Board is supported by Wandsworth Council.
