Wandsworth Borough's Metropolitan Special Constabulary

Special Constables are expected to conduct the same duties as their regular colleagues and are issued the same uniform and equipment and are also given the same powers of arrest.

The Wandsworth members of The Metropolitan Constabulary play an important role in providing additional officers at peak periods such as Friday and Saturday nights. They also play a vital role in major central London events such as the London Marathon, Trooping the Colour, the Lord Mayor's Show, and The University Boat Race.

If you are between 18 ½ and 45 years of age, physically fit and able to give at least 96 hours of your time a year to help police the Borough, why not contact us for more information on becoming a Special Constable.

You can telephone Divisional Officer Fred Ahmed on 020 8247 8011

The Community Safety Unit (CSU)

The CSU is responsible for the investigation of hate crimes within the Borough of Wandsworth. This includes racist crime, domestic violence, homophobic crime and hate mail. Both male and female officers, who are specially trained to deal with these crimes, staff the unit. It is also responsible for maintaining the register of missing persons. The unit is committed to working in partnership with both the statutory and voluntary organisations in the borough to improve the quality of life for the residents.

To contact this Community Safety Unit, dial 020 8874 5092 .

To e-mail the Community Safety on any non-emergency matter please click on wwmissingpersons@yahoo.co.uk

There is an answer phone for out of hours calls. All enquiries will be dealt with confidentially and the caller will be dealt with in a discreet and sensitive manner.

The Haven is a special unit, attached to Kings College Hospital, which provides medical help and advice, counselling and support by specially trained, experienced professionals to anyone living in south London who has been sexually assaulted.

This service is provided confidentially and will not involve the police unless you specifically request it. Click here for more information.
