Cycle Superhighways Launch

(Kim) The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson launched the first 2 cycle superhighways last Monday on Clapham Common.  One of these routes (CS7) links Merton to the City and travels along the A24 through Tooting, Balham and Clapham South.  The other route (CS3) links Barking to Tower Gateway.

Both routes are pilots and will allow TfL to test all the measures for their effectiveness, helping to determine the scope and detailed design of the remaining 10 routes, which will be up and running by the end of 2015.

In order to support the scheme, Wandsworth Council is running free ”Dr Bike” safety checks every Wednesday evening in July and August, from 6pm to 8pm, in the Balham Community (next to Sainsbury’s car park).  Dr Bike will check that your tyres, wheels, frame, brakes, gears, and chain are all in good working order and that your seat and handlebars are at the correct height. If Dr Bike believes your bike requires more than basic repairs, you will need to visit a local specialist bike shop.
