Teacher training information evening
People who are interested in training to teach at secondary level can
find out all they need to know about an employment-based teacher training
programme, by attending a Graduate Teacher Programme information evening
on Tuesday, April 26.
The event has been organised by the West London GTP Partnership of which
Wandsworth LEA is a member, and takes place at Hammersmith and Fulham
LEA Professional Learning Centre at 191 Talgarth Road, London W6, from
4pm to 8pm.
Event organisers are hoping a to attract a large number of graduates
who wish to teach subjects for which there is a teacher shortage including
Design and Technology, English, ICT, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages
and Science.
Graduates must hold a degree relevant to the subject they wish to teach
and have a GCSE A-C grade in English Language and Mathematics or equivalent.
The Graduate Teacher Programme is an employment-based route, leading
to qualified teacher status. The programme is intended to provide training
opportunities for graduates who may find the traditional course of initial
teacher training inaccessible to them.
The training programme suits mature, well qualified people who can quickly
begin to take on teaching responsibilities and who need to earn a living
while they train. Many already have relevant experience in other sectors
or in a support role in a school.
Members of the West London GTP Partnership include the LEAs of Wandsworth,
Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Richmond,
Sutton and Surrey.
